So by now you have seen decorations at your favorite stores, and you probably already bought your turkey for the feast this Thursday. The holiday season is here and it’s around for a few weeks. About 75 percent of annual weight gain happens during the holiday season. Probably from all of the pie, turkey, ham, and bubbly from dinners and holiday parties. However, as members of the F.I.T.T. PIT fam we are not going to let our fitness goals cease just for the holiday season. The tips below will aid in giving you some guidance this holiday season.

Tip 1: Moderation is Key

Anytime you bring up fitness and dieting, moderation will always be apart of the equation. Throughout the holiday season try to avoid eating unhealthy all the time. Yes, you should indulge every now and then but not everyday. Try to keep a food journal or just remind yourself that the holiday season isn’t an excuse to eat everything in sight, but a time to indulge a little without losing track of your fitness goals.

Tip 2: Try Something Different

Instead of only eating your typical holiday food, try some healthier options. Maybe instead of cooking ham cook turkey. Additionally, trying healthier recipes such as the ones at Food Network are a great place to start.

Tip 3: Find A Buddy

As stated in previous posts having a buddy or friend to join you in any fitness goal or lifestyle change always makes it easier. Maybe find a buddy in our bootcamp or boxing class to join you this holiday. You can keep each other in check throughout the holiday season.

Tip 4: Don’t Stop Exercising

Don’t let the holiday season be the time of year when you stop working out. Join a run club, boot camp, or get some private training. When it is too cold to leave your home try some workout videos on the web so you don’t fall behind. Additionally, the F.I.T.T. PIT has holiday events like the FREE Pre-Turkey Day Boot Camp to allow you to get out and workout during the holidays.
